The Double Head Sky-Beam Searchlight runs two synchronized beams from a single base — sweeping together, crossing and separating across the night sky. From 2 × 1kW up to 2 × 5kW, from $5,388.
What it does — and what it does not
A sky-beam searchlight projects a brilliant column of colored light into the night sky. It creates attention and atmosphere at a scale nothing else does.
It does not project a logo, an image or words. That is a different product entirely — if you want your mark on a wall, a floor or a building, our gobo logo projectors do that. We would rather tell you now than have you open the crate expecting something else.
How far will it be seen?
Visibility is what you are really buying, and it scales with power.

Figures are for a clear night; haze, cloud cover and heavy light pollution all shorten the range. When you are between two sizes, size up — nobody has ever regretted a beam that carried further than they needed.
Two beams from one base — and why that matters
You could buy two single heads. Two heads on one base is a different thing, and usually the better one:
- The beams are synchronized. They sweep together as a designed pair rather than two lights doing their own thing a few feet apart.
- One base, one position, one power feed. Half the footprint, half the setup, half the cabling on site.
- It reads as an installation, not as two rented lights.
If one beam is enough, the Single Head starts at $2,788. For a bigger statement, the Triple and Quad Head go further still.
The beam moves — that is the whole point
This is not a static spotlight pointed upward. Each head sweeps 90° horizontally and tilts 60°, automatically, so the beam scans the night sky in a slow, living arc.
That movement is what carries. A fixed column of light reads as a building feature; a sweeping one reads as something is happening here tonight, and it does it from miles away without a single word of copy.
Power: this is the one that catches people out
A searchlight does not plug into a wall outlet. Every other projector we sell does. This one does not, and it is the single thing most worth settling before you order.
- It runs on 110V or 220V — you choose which when you order.
- It connects through a 3-core industrial plug and socket on a 32A circuit, not a household socket.
- At 2 × 3kW and above, plan on a generator at the event; the smaller configurations can typically run from a 220V supply on site.
None of this is difficult once you know it — but discovering it on the day of the event is expensive. Tell us your venue and we will confirm exactly what you need before you order.
Beam color
Choose red, green, blue or yellow when you order. Both heads carry the same color, so the pair reads as one deliberate effect.
How the color works: it comes from a physical color wheel inside the fixture, and each unit holds one standard wheel. It does not change color automatically and it is not switched from a remote — so pick the color for the effect you want. An additional beam color is available as a paid add-on if you want something outside the four standard choices — tell us the color before you order and we will price it.
Run time, bulb life and upkeep
Xenon lamps run hot, and honest numbers here save a lot of disappointment:
- Run for up to 4 hours continuously, then allow about 30 minutes of cooldown before restarting. Plan an all-night event around that cycle — in practice, very few events need a beam running continuously from dusk to dawn.
- The bulb is rated for 800 hours. When it reaches end of life you replace the bulb, not the fixture. Replacement cost scales with power, so a 1kW lamp costs considerably less than a 10kW one — tell us your model and we will quote the exact figure.
- Maintenance is minimal: keep the fan vents clear so the unit can shed heat. And a bright beam outdoors at night attracts insects — that is normal, not a fault.
Built for real outdoor events
IP55 rated — rain-resistant and dust-resistant, made for genuine outdoor event use. As with any outdoor electrical equipment, do not submerge it or run it through a severe storm.
Warranty: 1 year on the fixture — motor, housing and electronics — and 3 months on the bulb. Freight damage is not covered by the manufacturer warranty, so inspect the unit on arrival and photograph anything that looks wrong straight away, and we will help you file the claim.
Lead time: order early
Searchlights are made to order and ship by sea — they are far too heavy to fly. Plan on about 60 to 75 days from order to delivery.
We put that here rather than in the small print because it is the one thing that ruins searchlight plans. If you have a dated event — an opening, a premiere, an anniversary — tell us the date now, before anything else. Each unit ships in its own flightcase.

Renting a searchlight runs roughly $400 to $1,000 a night. A double head is $5,388 and replaces two rented units at $400–$1,000 a night each — which is why the arithmetic tips faster on multi-head than it does on a single.
