No — and this is the one important difference. Every other projector we sell plugs into a standard wall outlet. A searchlight runs on 110V or 220V power (you choose which when you order) through a 3-core industrial plug and socket on a 32A circuit — not a household outlet. The bigger 5kW and 10kW models are usually run from a generator at the event. It's simple once you know — just tell us your location and event, and we'll confirm exactly what power setup you need before you order so there are no surprises.

No. A sky-beam searchlight throws a brilliant column of colored light into the night sky to grab attention and create atmosphere — it does not project a logo, image, or words. If you want your logo on a wall, floor, or building, that's what our gobo logo projectors are for. Tell us what you're trying to do and we'll point you to the right product.

You can choose white (the brightest and most classic look), red, blue, green or yellow. White is the most popular because it carries the farthest and reads as the bright "Hollywood premiere" beam. Note that the color comes from a physical color wheel inside the fixture — it does not switch colors automatically, and each unit holds one standard wheel. Let us know your color when you order; a non-standard color can be added for a small additional cost.

Searchlights are made to order and ship by sea (they're too heavy to fly), so plan on about 60–75 days from order to delivery. If you have a dated event, tell us the date early and we'll make sure the timing works.

Our xenon searchlights use a bulb rated for 800 hours of use. When it reaches end of life, the bulb is replaced (not the whole unit) — replacement cost scales with the light's power (a 2kW bulb costs less than a 10kW bulb). Yes — every searchlight we sell carries an IP55 water-resistant rating, built for real outdoor event use (rain-resistant, dust-resistant). As with any outdoor electrical equipment, avoid submerging it or running it in a severe storm.

The bulb carries a 3-month warranty and the fixture itself (motor, housing, electronics) carries a 1-year warranty. As with any freight-shipped equipment, damage that happens in transit isn't covered by the manufacturer warranty — inspect your unit and photograph any shipping damage right away so we can help you file a claim.

Run it for up to 4 continuous hours, then give it about a 30-minute cooldown before restarting — this protects the bulb and lets the unit vent properly. For an all-night event, plan your run schedule around that cycle (most events don't need continuous all-night operation anyway).

Very little. The main thing is keeping the fan ventilation openings clear so the unit can dissipate heat properly during use — check them before each event. Because the bright beam attracts insects, it's also normal to see bugs gather around the fixture outdoors at night; that's not a sign anything is wrong.
